Pink Dragonfruit
1pc
Dragon fruit (Pitahaya) grows on the Hylocereus cactus, native to southern Mexico and Central America, whose flowers only open at night. It has been described to taste like a slightly sweet cross between a kiwi and a pear. Slice the fruit lengthwise, scoop out the flesh, or use a knife to cut and peel off the leathery skin. The soft yet dense texture will hold its shape nicely when cut, so it can be diced into fruit salads and savoury salads, and pairs well with seafood. Dragon fruit lasts a week to two weeks in your refrigerator or on your counter. Storing it in the refrigerator slows down the ripening process while placing it on your countertop will allow it to continue to ripen.
